The 2023-2024 school year has begun, and with it comes excitement, opportunity, and, for some kids, worries about where their next meal will come from.
One in nine kids in Colorado are currently at risk of food insecurity. These are alarming statistics given how hunger affects children. Kids who are living with food insecurity are more likely to develop asthma and anemia, and experience stunted development, hospitalizations, and oral health problems. Food insecurity is also linked to childhood mental health challenges, which can further limit a child’s ability to be a productive student.
To help ensure the children in our community don't experience these hardships, Food Bank of the Rockies’ Food for Kids Program works with dozens of schools and sites that host after-school programs to provide nutrient-rich meals and weekend food bags through our signature Totes of Hope™ program.
To support our work and help keep the kids in our community nourished, please consider becoming a FEED365™ monthly donor or making a one-time donation today. Thank you.
