Reflecting on an Extraordinary, Singular Year in Nourishing our Neighbors

There’s no way to overstate how exceptional this past year was for Food Bank of the Rockies and our Hunger Relief Partners. Near-record inflation levels and the end of COVID-era federal support measures triggered a 13% increase in the numbers of people we served. Thanks to your support, we were able to step up to the challenge of meeting that need by distributing 93 million pounds of food — the equivalent of more than 77.5 million meals; that’s an average of 212,400 meals daily.

While we are grateful to have been able to provide so much needed nourishment, the fact remains that food insecurity rates in our service area right now are higher than they have been in 10 years. One in nine people is food insecure in our region, including one in seven kids. Knowing that good food is essential for a good life, we are doing everything in our power to meet the need and continue the hallmarks of our mission: distributing fresh, culturally responsive food, serving as many people as possible, and responding to community needs.

We can only do this work with your support, which this past year, in addition to helping us nourish more than 417,000 people, earned us recognition as the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Large Nonprofit of the Year and the Colorado Sun Readers’ Choice for Best Nonprofit in the Denver Metro area. These incredible honors are a testament to your generosity and support, and we are grateful to you for helping us deliver on our mission.

Explore all the ways you helped provide hope and enabled Food Bank of the Rockies to further our mission of igniting the power of community to nourish people facing hunger in our fiscal year 2024 annual report.

As we continue to adapt to meet the needs of our neighbors and bolster the work being done to address the root causes of hunger, we are taking steps toward a future where our communities have the resources to thrive. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Bringing Food from Local Farms to Local Families

At Food Bank of the Rockies, we believe in nourishing our communities with fresh, local produce. That's why we proudly team up with over 800 hunger-relief organizations, sourcing as much food as possible from local growers.

One of those producers is Austin Family Farm in Paonia, Colorado, a four-generation, family owned farm. Each day, the Austin family's dedication shines through as they grow fresh produce that travels directly from their fields to our distribution sites. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, this cycle of nourishment — from the soil to the families we serve — continues to thrive, bringing fresh, nutritious food to tables across our community.
